Bug #4999

mceFocus doesn't remember cursor position in IE9

2012-02-10 04:53:20 By: uncreative_nick
Closed Priority: 3 Resolution: None Assigned to: None
Description of problem: If you select some different object on the site, and call mceFocus, tiny mce gets focussed, but the cursor jumps back to the beginning, even if you have set it to another position before. Firefox, Opera and Chrome remember the previous cursor position.

Steps to reproduce:
1. I selected some text (span, outside of tinymce), called afterwards tinyMCE.execCommand('mceFocus', false, 'myTextBox'), the tinymce box got the focus, but the caret jumps to the start of the box. (instead to the positon it was before I selected the other object)

This happens with IE9, I am not sure whether older versions are affected.

IE doesn't remember caret position automatically.

Is it possible to emulate this remembrance function via JS? If yes, will TinyMCE get this function?

This will be a feature request in that case, not really a bug.
You probably should log this in the feature instead. I am not aware of any work on this front at the moment.
